Students from all over the country began moving into Kent State residence halls, on a staggered schedule for COVID-19 safety, on Wednesday, Aug. 18. Dear School of Art Friends: I am happy to be writing to you at the beginning of a new academic year. I would like to start by sharing some personal news. Beginning September 1, 2021, I will be shifting responsibilities as I become the new Associate Dean for the College of the Arts. I share this news with mixed emotions. From now through Sunday, Sept. 19, Cockeye Creamery, located at 1805 1/2 Parkman Road NW in Warren, will be serving its Kent State-inspired ice cream 鈥淏lack Squirrel鈥 to raise money for 妻友社区 at Trumbull鈥檚 Care Closet. Kent State alumnus Max Hoover, owner of Cockeye Creamery, created the flavor to pay homage to Kent State鈥檚 unofficial mascot: the black squirrel.
