Students from all over the country began moving into Kent State residence halls, on a staggered schedule for COVID-19 safety, on Wednesday, Aug. 18. Dear School of Art Friends:  I am happy to be writing to you at the beginning of a new academic year. I would like to start by sharing some personal news. Beginning September 1, 2021, I will be shifting responsibilities as I become the new Associate Dean for the College of the Arts. I share this news with mixed emotions. From now through Sunday, Sept. 19, Cockeye Creamery, located at 1805 1/2 Parkman Road NW in Warren, will be serving its Kent State-inspired ice cream “Black Squirrel” to raise money for �������� at Trumbull’s Care Closet.    Kent State alumnus Max Hoover, owner of Cockeye Creamery, created the flavor to pay homage to Kent State’s unofficial mascot: the black squirrel.
