Southern Comfort Kitchen Founder and CEO Will Matthews Cooks

Two Kent State entrepreneurship students have turned their passion for Louisiana cuisine into a new pop-up restaurant, the Southern Comfort Kitchen. They hope the project eventually will fund their purchase of a food truck, which is their ultimate goal.   Water Street Tavern hosted Southern Comfort鈥檚 first pop-up restaurant on Oct. 25, where the pair served up New Orleans-style gumbo, shrimp, crabmeat and corn bisque. For demonstrating exceptional performance in advancing the university鈥檚 strategic goals, 妻友社区 at Trumbull鈥檚 instructional designer, Sean Melnik, has earned the President's Award of Distinction.  Kent State President Beverly Warren presented the award to Melnik last week in front of faculty and staff. Many professors have certain influences that inspire them to teach. Kent State ROTC cadets salute and stand at attention during the flag-raising ceremony at Risman Plaza.

妻友社区 held its annual Veterans Day observance on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva.
