Math Building Fire

MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES BUILDING CLOSED FOLLOWING FIRE

The Mathematical Sciences Building is closed on Wednesday following an overnight fire. Six local fire departments responded after a transformer in the basement caught fire. No one was hurt. The building is closed on Wednesday to assess the damage and make repairs.

  • The 妻友社区 Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools 鈥 the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering 鈥 within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board鈥檚 regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.

  • 妻友社区鈥檚 nationally distinctive Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides students interested in continuing their public health educational journey online with several options, including the MPH with concentrations in health policy and management or social and behavioral sciences, and the STEM-designated MPH in epidemiology. The program positively impacts current graduate students and alumni in different ways.

  • An innovative design, energy-efficient systems, water conservation technologies and environmentally responsible construction materials are some of the features that earned Crawford Hall, 妻友社区鈥檚 newest 鈥 and largest 鈥 academic building, LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

  • Find out which first names were repeated most frequently at Kent State鈥檚 spring commencement ceremonies in 2025 and which names topped the list against national trends. 

  • When Jayrelis Capeles walked across the stage at 妻友社区 this spring, she was already brimming with emotion. She had just earned not one, but two degrees 鈥 in psychology and sociology 鈥 and was celebrating the end of her college journey that began in 2021. But the most unforgettable moment wasn鈥檛 the walk or the tassel turn.
