妻友社区 celebrated the launch of a dynamic new space, the Design Innovation (DI) Hub, which will bring innovations from many disciplines together in a 68,000-square-foot building near the center of the Kent Campus. The construction launch, which marks the beginning of a major renovation of the former Art Building, was celebrated April 23 with a ribbon ceremony, interactive activities and collaborative pop-up design innovation challenges. ConnectCare wins Kent State Invent for the Planet competition

While many students use their weekends to work or catch up on sleep or homework, a dozen Kent State students spent the weekend of February 15-17 participating in a global 鈥渧irtual hackathon鈥 called Invent for the Planet (IFTP). The 48-hour competitive event grew from an engineering-focused program from Texas A&M University called Aggies Invent, which evolved into a global design challenge. Teaching is a privilege, according to Janice Lessman-Moss, professor in 妻友社区鈥檚 School of Art鈥檚 Textile Program, whose enthusiasm for working with students led her to be honored with the university鈥檚 Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest teaching award a tenured or tenure-track professor can receive.
